It was just over a year ago while 0n an evening of Facebook scrolling, Nicholas’ partner Jade came across the heartbreaking story of Scarlet. Scarlet was a young girl who had just been diagnosed with leukemia and who simply wanted to cuddle a Dachshund for her birthday.
Being the people they are, Nic and Jade couldn’t just ignore this story, and alongside the incredible community in the Redlands and Brisbane, we got to work making Scarlets dream come true.
On a beautiful Brisbane Saturday, Scarlet came down to Capalaba Produce to have her dream come true. Not only did she get to cuddle a Dachshund, but over 300 four legged friends arrived for a cuddle from the special birthday girl.
It was such a beautiful day where we as a community were able to bring a spark of light into this wonder woman’s life. Scarlet barely goes a day without talking what a fun time she had when she got to come to Capalaba Produce and cuddle all the puppies.
A lot has happened since this beautiful day occurred last November. Scarlet has now turned five and has her very own dachshund called Liberty who has helped Scarlet get through her treatment.
Most importantly we’re happy to announce that Scarlet is now in remission! She is still receiving treatment but is well on her way to being cancer free.
Once again, we just want to say a big thank you to everybody in our community and their dogs who came out to make Scarlets dream come true. We couldn’t be happier that she is now in remission and hope for a beautiful, happy, and healthy future for Liberty and Scarlet.
From Nicholas, Jade, and the team at Capalaba Produce.
