After a long day we often like to indulge ourselves with a hot drink and a sweet treat, so why shouldn’t our pets get to enjoy that too?

DIY Dog treat – Homemade Peanut Butter & Bacon Cookies
Peanut butter and bacon are every dog’s dream food pairing, and now your dog can enjoy both in this one easy to bake and delicious treat. If you were looking for that perfect treat to spoil your pooch this winter, then this recipe is a must try.
Ingredients:
4 cups of rolled oats.
2 eggs
1 cup of natural peanut butter (must not contain xylitol, as it is toxic to dogs)
1 cup of unsweetened apple sauce
3 rashers of bacon.
Method:
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Using a food processor, blend the oats until you get a flour consistency.
Place this oat flour into a large mixing bowl.
Cook bacon thoroughly until completely crunchy. Allow to cool and harden.
Using food processor blitz the bacon until it crumbles.
Add all ingredients into the large mixing bowl. Mix until well combined.
Take a small pinch of mixture and roll into a small ball.
Place on a baking tray and flatten.
Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown.
Allow to cool, before serving to your dog.
Can be stored in an airtight container for 1 week, or in the refrigerator for 2 weeks.
DIY Cat treat – Homemade Tuna Treats
Cats love treats, but don’t just take our word for it, try baking these tasty tuna treats for your feline friends. They are bound to delight even the pickiest of eaters.
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 cup of flour (use coconut or oat for a healthy alternative, it’s best to check with your vet to see what they recommend)
1 tin of cat food (tuna, salmon, or chicken – pick their favourite)
1tbs of olive oil
2tbs of dried catnip (optional)
Method:
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Add all ingredients into a food processor.
Once mixed evenly.
Take a small pinch of mixture and roll into a small ball.
Place on a baking tray and flatten.
Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
Allow to cool, before serving to your cat.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
DIY Bird Treat – Homemade Suet Cake
Don’t forget your feathered friends this winter. These treats are high in fat and protein, perfect for increasing your bird’s calorie intake during the colder months, to help maintain their energy levels and body heat.
Ingredients:
½ cup x black sunflower seeds
¼ cup x dried cranberries & raisins (raw, unsweetened)
¼ cup x peanuts (raw, unsalted)
¼ cup x Birdseed
1 cup x crunchy peanut butter
250g x suet
Method:
Melt the suet in a small saucepan.
Once it has melted, add additional ingredients.
Mix well.
Pour into moulds or muffin tins (we use patty pans).
If you wish to hang them, add a piece of string to mixture when pouring into pans (looping it, so that it can be hung later).
Place in refrigerator to harden overnight.
Remove from patty pan and hang in your bird’s cage.
Watch your birds enjoy their new treat.
