Christmas With Your Pets

Christmas truly is a wonderful time of the year to spend with our families and this includes our beloved pets, big and small. So, it’s only natural to want to involve them in the festivities and fun. If you are ready to learn how to do so in a way that is safe and full of joy, stick around.

Safety First

To avoid any meow-schief when it comes to decorating your home this Christmas, it is important to consider any potential dangers your pet may face during the holiday season. This can include Christmas decorations, festivities, and even our food.

If you have a pet that is overly curious then it is important to keep them in mind when decorating for the holidays. The best way to do this is to keep decorations out of reach from curious nibblers, as many are made from glass, wood, or porcelain and if broken can cause damage to curious pets if they eat them or step on broken items. Try your best to pet proof your home to keep your four-legged friends safe this Christmas. If you can’t keep your decorations away from your pets, then try decorating with alternative materials.

We recommend creating a barrier between your pet and your Christmas tree. This is a great way to protect your pet, your tree, and decorations as well as any presents hidden below. Keep it in a room they don’t have access to, or even fence it off with something like a fireplace guard or play pen fence.

Be careful around food. With family and friends visiting ensure everyone understands that your pets aren’t to eat human food. While this can be harder than it needs to be sometimes, it is the best way to avoid harming your pet through accidental food poisoning – as much of our food is toxic to pets. Skip the vet bills and keep human food out of reach.

Now the serious “fluff” is out the way, its presents time!
