4 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day with your Dog

Who will ever love you as much as your beloved dog. Man’s best friend. Whether you are alone on Valentine’s Day or with your partner. You can be sure that the ideal date is the one who will not disappoint. The one who loves you unconditionally. The one who lights up when you enter the room. The one who will do anything to please you. The one who is there for you even in toughest times, and although they cannot speak to you, their empathetic nature expresses more then words ever could. That’s right. I’m talking about celebrating Valentine’s Day with your dog.

Those puppy dog eyes, happy wagging tail, and abundance of kisses they will give you makes them ideal to celebrate the 14th of this month with, regardless of your current relationship status.

So how can we treat them and ourselves to the perfect valentine’s date?

1 – With food of course.

Most people’s ideal date includes great food, and a date with your dog is no exception. Your dog is going to love whatever you give them so why not make it a little bit special. Bake them a doggy treat or cook them something tasty. You could even try our delicious Valentine’s Day frozen treat recipe below, which is safe for humans and dogs alike so you can both enjoy it together. These are also perfect for those hot summer days. Get creative with your dog’s favourite ingredients and have some fun.

2/3 cup of Greek Yogurt

1/2 cup of Peanut Butter

2. Pour mixture into the silicone mold or ice cube tray.
3. Freeze for at least 2 – 3 hours or until set.
4. Serve

2 – Take them for a scent walk.

If there’s one thing, we can all agree on it’s that dogs love to go for walks and sniff everything. They explore the world through their noses, so what better way to start off your doggy date, then by taking them for a walk, somewhere new and exciting. Check out our blog on the “5 Best Off-leash Dog Parks in Brisbane & The Redlands” to give you some ideas on where you might like to take them.

3 – Give them a present.

Who doesn’t love a present. Here at Capalaba Produce we have a huge selection of toys suitable for all types of dogs and their chewing needs. From cuddly friends, balls to chase and indestructible chews, come in and pick something out, or better yet, bring your four-legged friend and let them choose for themselves.

4 – Movie night and cuddles.

What better way to end your date, then cuddled up on the couch with your pooch and watch your favourite movie, maybe a rom com because after all it is Valentine’s Day. Or maybe your favourite doggy movie, “A Dog’s Purpose”, anyone?

Life is all about these little moments. So enjoy them, and while your dog may only be a small part of your world, you are all of theirs, treasure them while you can.
